Street Poets Open Mic: Featuring Jaha Zainabu

March 24, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm

SAVE THE DATE!
On Friday, March 24th, we are returning with our first Street Poets Open Mic event of the year! All are welcomed to join and we encourage poems celebrating and lifting women’s voices, in recognition of Women’s History Month.
✨
The evening will feature guest poet, Jaha Zainabu.
JAHA is a poet, painter and photographer living in Los Angeles. She is a member of The Anansi Writers Workshop. Her latest collection of poetry was released last year through Mama’s Kitchen Press, titled, I’M WRITING TO TELL YOU – https://www.mamaskitchenpress.com/store/p/imwritingtotellyou
✨
The evening will also be a tribute to our recently transitioned poet and mental health advocate, TONYA INGRAM 🕊️🕊️🕊️
Street Poets was honored to host Tonya as the featured poet at one of our community open-mic events last fall and she blessed us all as she has blessed so many spaces coast to coast with her grace, compassion, humor and powerful poetic medicine. Tonya was like family to two of our program director’s, Alyesha Wise and Matthew Cuban, and we are very grateful to continue celebrating Tonya’s life on this evening. We also invite those signing the open mic list to bring poems written by Tonya Ingram to read, if you choose.
✨
Come join us at @comunitymade for food and medicine for the body, mind, soul and spirit.
